Uruguay: A natural country with a charm all its own.

Posibilidades de Excursiones / Turistic Tours

Uruguay offers a wide diversity of landscapes in perfect balance, with a gentle weather all year round, rolling green grasslands, soft shores and a careful relation with the environment.

It has a special magic which can be felt in very few other places in the world. The chances are endless; nature beauties are a few hours drive away. More than two million visitors leave every year believing that Uruguay is a "environment friendly country".

Uruguayans are recognized for being good hosts, hospitable and friendly, always ready to lend a helping hand to visitors. Thanks to its peaceful way of life, visitors can safely walk along streets at any time of the day or night. Health standards are also the highest in the region, which means that no special precautions are needed to enter to the country.

Uruguay´s topography is primarily characterized by rolling plains surrounded by lesser irregularities: hills, low ranges, ridges, ravines, unique formations known as stone seas and other rocky terrain. The entire country offers the enchantment of gazing across almost endless horizons, bathed in diaphanous light and pure air.

About Uruguay

Area: 176.215 km2

Population: 3.360.000 inhabitants

Capital: Montevideo

Official Language: Spanish

Currency: Uruguayan Peso

 Host City: Montevideo.

The city of Montevideo was founded in 1726, a strategic spot in the South American geography, on the banks of anatural harbor, crowned by a hill, and facing the River Plate, one of the largest in the world. Since the beginnings, Montevideo enjoyed an active commercial activity. Throughout time, the city continued to grow thanks to immigrant flows (mainly Spanish and Italian), who gave their legacy and tradition as expert hosts. Green areas, gardens, monuments, leisure areas, sea, coast lines bathed by golden sands, and a bright sky, all invite to enjoy the city as a dearly loved town.

The city could not be imagined without its seaside drive, an appealing natural space, sought by city dwellers to live in the area or merely as a leisure place.

Within this framework, cultural life is enlightened by performances of the best interpreters of music, dance, and opera, and the city also hosts theatre, cinema, and tango festivals, conferences and different events. The city is avid for intensive life, but it also proud to offer a peaceful environment, which sets a distinction as compared to other large cities.
